Former NFL Linebacker Willie McGinest Allegedly Caught On Video Smashing Bottle Into Man’s Head In Nightclub Brawl

Former three-time Super Bowl champion linebacker Willie McGinest was arrested on Monday, and is facing a charge of assault with a deadly weapon.

The incident leading up to the arrest, allegedly took place on December 9th at a nightclub in Santa Monica, California called Delilah. TMZ first reported the incident and published footage of McGinest and his acquaintances allegedly punching a man who was sitting at a table at the nightclub. McGinest walked up to the man and they had a discussion before he allegedly punched the man, according to the report. Three other people are seen jumping into the action as well. Bystanders try to break it up and McGinest is allegedly seen hitting the man with a bottle repeatedly, leaving him bruised and bloody.

On Monday the 19th, the former NFL player was taken into custody and brought to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s West Hollywood Station. Three hours later, McGinest posted a $30,000 bond and was released from custody. He is due in court to address the charges on Wednesday, December, 21st.

McGinest was the fourth overall pick out of USC in the 1994 draft and was selected by the New England Patriots. He spent his first 12 seasons with the Patriots and he finished his final three seasons with the Cleveland Browns. McGinest went to two Pro Bowls, is in the New England Patriots Hall of Fame, and won three Super Bowls with New England. He is one of the most famous players in Patriots history.

Following his 15-year career, he moved on to being an analyst for the NFL Network.

“Willie McGinest will not appear on NFL Network while we review the matter,” a spokesperson for the NFL Network told TMZ.
