NHL Fan Facing Assault Charge For Allegedly Biting Off Another Fan’s Fingertip During Fight

An NHL fan was taken into custody Friday after a melee involving at least six people broke out at the Coyotes vs. Bruins game. The fan, Nashaknik Allen Shontz, is being accused of biting off another person’s fingertip during the fight, according to police and TMZ Sports, which first reported the incident. Shontz was booked on a count of aggravated assault for allegedly causing bodily injury. Five other fans received citations for their alleged involvement.

A spokesperson for the ASU Police Dept. told TMZ that several Boston and Arizona fans got into a fight during the game around 9:30 PM at the Mullett Arena in Tempe.

Video distributed on social media from a spectator showed several fans throwing drinks and shoving people until police broke up the fight.

The victim and the status of the victim’s fingertip are unknown, as is the cause of the fight. Police are investigating.

The Coyotes went on to win the game, 4-3.
