Cristiano Ronaldo Released After Mutual Agreement With Manchester United
After the relationship between the two parties went south, Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo have mutually agreed to part ways. Ronaldo’s contract with the club has been terminated after details surfaced of the player’s interview with TalkTV. The move comes with less than two days remaining until Portugal is scheduled to play its first game of the 2022 World Cup.
Ronaldo was reportedly extremely critical of both the team and its manager Eric ten Hag. The star player allegedly stated that he has no respect for Hag, and accused fellow Manchester United teammates of trying to ostracize him from the team.
According to some key quotes written down by Sky Sports, Ronaldo allegedly said he feels betrayed by Manchester United and prefers for Arsenal to win the Premier League. The player also said he would like to continue playing until he reaches 40, according to the news outlet. Ronaldo is currently 37-years-old. United wants to complete the process of Ronaldo’s removal as cleanly and efficiently as possible, officials say.
After a further in depth look into the forward’s contract, his current term were due to expire in August 2023. Saudi Arabia reportedly made a trade offer this past Summer, but Ronaldo did not sign off on the idea.
