300 Out Of 650 Black NFL Retirees Qualify For Financial Compensation After Neurological Test Rescores

After tests of 650 ex-NFL players were reevaluated, their neurological test scores were updated. Since then, 300 of the players are now eligible for the National Football League’s $1 billion concussion settlement after the elimination of test adjustments based on race.
The law firm Seeger Weiss LLP stated that thousands of other Black players can request new tests to determine whether they’re eligible for a payout. Attorney Christopher Seeger issued a statement, apologizing and claiming he is part of getting it fixed.
“I was wrong. I didn’t have a full appreciation of the scope of the problem,” Seeger said. “You think you know everything. Sometimes you don’t. But the closer I looked, the more I realized that this had to go. I’m really sorry that anybody, any client of mine in this program has been made to feel that way. That is a big mistake. It was a failure of the system. I’m a part of that. But I’m also a part of getting it fixed.”
