New Orleans Pelicans forward Zion Williamson, who is entering the final year of his current rookie deal, signed a five-year extension that ties the star player to New Orleans through the 2028 season. A base value of $193 million over the five year span that could either reach up to $231 million, or be reduced if Williamson continues to struggle with staying in shape.

The language in Williamson’s contract states that the player will have periodic weigh-ins through the entirety of his five-year deal and must maintain a total weight and body fat percentage below a combined 295 pounds. Williamson has been training with private trainer Jasper Bibbs and Dillard University alum Christian Green.
