With the NBA preseason still under way, the defending 2021-22 NBA Champions Golden State Warriors have already encountered a small bump in the road involving teammates Draymond Green and Jordan Poole. Officials say that Green is facing potential discipline from the Warriors after a heated, verbal altercation with Poole during team practice turned physical.

NBA Reporter Jason Dumas says that the situation between Green and Poole had been building up. Green has since taken accountability for his actions by offering an apology to the Warriors organization. Green reportedly feels that he let his teammates down as a leader of the locker room. Senior NBA Insider Chris Haynes cites that Poole’s teammates have noticed a shift in his behavior and that it may be due to ongoing contract talks with the Warriors.

It’s not yet clear what Green’s punishment will be, but neither he nor Poole suffered any injuries. This is not the first time that Green will be disciplined for his conduct throughout his illustrious 10-year career. In 2018, the veteran was cited for detrimental conduct to the team for allegedly calling former Warriors teammate Kevin Durant a “bitch” during their game against the Los Angeles Clippers. Green was served a one-game suspension as a result.

The former 2012 NBA Draft pick averaged 5.7 ppg, 52.5% FG, and 7.3 rebounds per game on his way to ultimately winning his fourth NBA Finals championship against the Boston Celtics.
