A dramatic backstage altercation broke out just before the live taping of AEW: Dynamite on Wednesday. The fight occurred after another headline grabbing fight involving CM Punk, Ace Steel, Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks at the company’s All Out pay-per-view special. Wrestlers Sammy Guevara and Andrade El Idolo reportedly got into a physical altercation which led to Andrade being the one sent home for the evening.

Guevara not only got to stay for the show, but took part in Dynamite’s main event. A tag team match between Guevara and Ring of Honor (ROH) Champion Chris Jericho, versus Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia. Guevara and Jericho picked up the victory to close out the show. Andrade was scheduled for a match this Friday on AEW: Rampage against Preston “10” Vance, but CEO Tony Khan on social media that the match was cancelled.

Tensions had been steadily rising between Guevara and Andrade, as the two were seen on social media going back and forth with one another in a heated verbal confrontation. Officials say that the verbal exchange started when Andrade told Mas Lucha that Guevara was the one wrestler that he had a personal problem with in the company. Andrade continued on, claiming that Guevara was complaining in the locker room about being hit too hard by Andrade during a match. Andrade even went as far as to say that he had no fear of being fired when calling out Guevara on Twitter.

Guevara took to social media to retaliate, responding to Andrade’s claims by first saying, “You are a jobber. A favor hire. Be grateful bitch.” Guevara didn’t stop there, as he then quote retweeted Andrade directly to deny the allegations. Guevara went on to say that Andrade should go back to the WWE and “f*** off”. Andrade previously worked for the WWE and is married to WWE Superstar Charlotte Flair.

Andrade’s father-in-law is WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair. Andrade took to the comments, telling Guevara that he would see him on Wednesday.

While this may be the second backstage altercation to reportedly happen in the second half of 2022, this is not the first time Guevara has been involved in a backstage incident with another AEW wrestler. The first incident involving Guevara happened with AEW Superstar Eddie Kingston, who took exception to Guevara calling him fat during a live television taping for Rampage. Kingston was later issued a two-week suspension after “pie-facing” Guevara, but the two have reportedly settled their differences and apologized to one another.
