On Thursday, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman addressed the team’s long World Series drought.

The Astros’ sign-stealing incident in 2017 was the biggest cause for New York’s World Series drought, according to Cashman, who added that Houston’s actions were “so unlawful and horrible.”

In 2017, the Yankees advanced to the ALCS before falling to the Astros in seven games. Houston went on to win the World Series, but they were hit with a huge fine in 2020 for their sign-stealing throughout the season.
