Report: MLB To Allow Pitchers And Catchers To Use Device During Regular Season To Prevent Sign Stealing
Buster Olney of ESPN reported on Tuesday that pitchers and catchers will have the option of using freshly tested signaling devices while deciding what pitches to throw in the upcoming regular season.
The MLB infamously discovered that the 2017 World Series winner Houston Astros used a sign-stealing system. Houston utilized a TV monitor put in place behind the Astros’ dugout to identify the coming pitch for batters instantaneously during their at-bats.
This device will have a big impact on how Major League Baseball moves forward with technology, but also how it can move past sign stealing scandals.
