NWSL Commissioner Allegedly “Turned A Blind Eye” When Players Reported Coach Paul Riley For Inappropriate Behavior

All National Women’s Soccer League games scheduled for this weekend are cancelled after abuse allegations have surfaced against Head Coach, Paul Riley.

Commissioner Lisa Baird was “shocked” after reading that multiple former professional womens soccer players accused Coach Riley, of sexual coercion and inappropriate comments spanning decades. Current professional player Alex Morgan spoke out Thursday afternoon, indicating that the league knew about these allegations but refused to investigate them.

North Carolina Courage immediately terminated Coach Paul Riley following the allegations. Below is the team’s statement.

Former and Current NWSL Players spoke out on this situation via Twitter.

Below are statements from Commissioner Baird, Alex Morgan, Mia Hamm, and emails between former player, Sinead Farrelly and Lisa Baird.
