Nike is not likely to extend Kyrie Irving’s shoe deal, according to ESPN, due to uncertainties surrounding his NBA future.

Irving will release a new iteration of his sneaker this autumn, but it is believed to be the final year in a lucrative signature series he has had with Nike since 2014.

“We don’t comment on contracts or rumors or speculation. Kyrie remains a Nike athlete,” a Nike spokesperson told ESPN.

In July, Irving took to Twitter to vent his displeasure with the Nike Kyrie 8 edition. He called the shoe “trash” and insisted that he had nothing to do with the design or marketing and that Nike plans to release it without his okay.
