NCAA Punishes Innocent Student Athletes More Than Auburn University Following Bribery Scandal
Years after its former assistant coach Chuck Person was arrested and charged with accepting $91,500 in bribes, the NCAA has issued a punishment for Auburn men’s basketball program. The punishment includes four years of probation and a two game suspension for head coach Bruce Pearl but it also includes depriving the school of two scholarships for student athletes.
Some are questioning the use of such a disciplinary measure when it will deprive two students of opportunities to get a college education, who had nothing to do with Person’s decisions or criminal activity.
