While unvaccinated Nets guard Kyrie Irving continues to miss home games at the Barclays Center, NBA commissioner Silver questions if it makes sense that only Irving has to sit out.

In an appearance on ESPN’s “Get Up” on Wednesday, Silver questioned why New York City’s vaccine mandate only applied to home teams and predicted that the city’s new Mayor would opt to eliminate the need once limitations are relaxed.

“If ultimately that rule is about protecting people in the arena, it just doesn’t make sense to me that an away player who is unvaccinated can play in Barclays but the home player can’t,” Silver said. “To me, that’s a reason they should take a look at that ordinance.”
