Major League Baseball announced Friday night that Fernando Tatis Jr. of the San Diego Padres has been suspended for 80-games without pay. Tatis reportedly violated Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program after testing positive for Clostebol, which is said to be on the league’s list of banned substances.

The Padres issued a statement on Tatis being served an 80-game suspension by the MLB.

“We were surprised and extremely disappointed to learn today that Fernando Tatis Jr. tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance in violation of Major League Baseball’s Joint Prevention and Treatment Program and subsequently received an 80-game suspension without pay. We fully support the program and are hopeful that Fernando will learn from his experience.”

Robert Murray posted Tatis’ statement in response to his suspension on his Twitter account.
