After falling to the Baltimore Ravens last night 27-22, Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady has announced that he and his wife Gisele Bundchen have finalized their divorce after 13-years of marriage. Ari Meirov of ProFootballFocus posted Brady’s statement. The quarterback made his announcement on his Instagram story.

Bundchen issued her own statement on Instagram shortly after.

“With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce,” Bundchen wrote. “My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart. We will continue co-parenting to give them the love, care and attention they greatly deserve.”

She continued: “The decision to end a marriage is never easy but we have grown apart and while it is, of course, difficult to go through something like this, I feel blessed for the time we had together and only wish the best for Tom always.”

Brady and Bundchen were reportedly working together with a mediator to settle on a joint custody arrangement concerning their children and also split up shared property.

“The settlement is all worked out,” a source reportedly told PEOPLE Magazine. “They’ve been working on the terms this whole time. They agreed to joint custody of the kids.”

Brady and Bündchen have not made the details of their settlement public and asked for privacy during this difficult time. Brady called the divorce painful. The two share a 12-year-old son and a nine-year-old daughter and Brady has another son, 15-year-old Jack, with his ex Bridget Moynahan. An estimated $26 million property portfolio is among one of the assets the couple reportedly divided up, though their actual net worth and asset portfolio is not public record.

Earlier this month, Page Six alleged that Brady’s decision to un-retire from the game of football could have been a factor in why the couple’s relationship became increasingly strained. ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the news that Brady was retiring from the NFL earlier this year. Brady expressed an interest in spending more time with his family at that time and diving into his business ventures, including his clothing line and production company, among other endeavors. However, Brady’s retirement was short-lived as he announced his return after approximately 40 days.

Brady said that he has “unfinished” business with the Bucs and began preparing for his 23rd NFL season, and third season with the Buccaneers organization. The decision reportedly led to disagreements between the couple, as the model has openly expressed her desire for Brady to retire and spend more time with her and their children. The world famous Supermodel also expressed concerns over Brady’s safety continuing to play such a “violent” sport. One source feared the two would never be coming back from the alleged fall-out. While Brady announced that the divorce has been finalized, it is unclear whether the two have reached a settlement and still need a court to sign off on the divorce filing. TMZ Sports is reporting that Bundchen just officially filed for divorce Friday morning, and that Brady is reportedly not contesting it. It is possible that the terms of the agreement are final and there are still some legal formalities left to be dealt with in court by their attorneys. If so, that process could take a long time. However, considering Brady’s public announcement, in his eyes, their divorce is clearly a done deal.
