Biden Administration Says Brittney Griner Is Being Wrongfully Detained
According to two U.S. officials who told Associated Press, the Biden administration has concluded that WNBA star Brittney Griner is being unlawfully imprisoned in Russia.
“Brittney has been detained for 75 days and our expectation is that the White House do whatever is necessary to bring her home,” Griner’s agent, Lindsay Kagawa Colas told AP.
The WNBA said on Tuesday that it will recognize Griner with a floor decal and that the Mercury would be able to pay her without it affecting the team’s cap. Griner’s initials, BG, and her No. 42 will be featured on the decal.
